These terms govern use of The Index Beauty, located at theindexbeauty.com.
What this site is
The Index Beauty is an editorial directory of independent beauty and grooming brands across five American cities. Brand profiles are compiled from publicly available sources, including business listings, brand websites, social media, and founder submissions.
The Index Beauty is a directory and editorial publication. It is not a marketplace. It does not process transactions, hold inventory, or fulfill orders. Purchases happen on the brands' own websites or through their named retail channels.
Accuracy and completeness
Brand profiles are reviewed before publication. Information is verified where possible. When a detail cannot be verified, it is left blank rather than guessed.
The Index Beauty does not guarantee that every detail is current. Brands change addresses, hours, and product lines. Founders are encouraged to update or correct their listing at any time.
Brand listings
Brands are added to the directory through manual research, public business records, founder submissions, and editorial nominations. A listing on The Index Beauty is not a paid placement, an endorsement of a brand's products, or a guarantee of quality.
Identity tags such as Black-owned, Women-owned, BIPOC-owned, vegan, and cruelty-free are self-selected by brands through the claim listing process. They are never asserted by The Index Beauty on a brand's behalf.
Removal of a listing
Founders may request removal of their brand at any time. Send a request to hello@theindexbeauty.com with the brand name and a verifiable point of contact. Standard turnaround is seven days.
Removal requests received via signed opt-out links in editorial outreach emails are processed automatically.
User submissions
If you submit a brand through the submission form, you confirm that the information provided is accurate to your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. Submitted information may be edited for length, formatting, or editorial fit before publication, and may be rejected without explanation.
The Index Beauty does not pay for submissions and does not guarantee publication of submitted brands.
Email subscriptions
If you subscribe to email updates, your address is used solely to send editorial content from The Index Beauty. Unsubscribe links are included in every email.
Intellectual property
Editorial content, design, and original photography on The Index Beauty are the property of The Index Beauty. Brand names, logos, product images, and trademarks displayed on the site belong to their respective owners and appear under fair use for the purpose of editorial reference.
If you are a brand owner and wish to remove your trademark or imagery from a listing, see the Removal section above or the DMCA policy.
Linking and excerpts
Linking to The Index Beauty is welcome. Excerpts of editorial content for review, commentary, or news purposes are also welcome with attribution. Wholesale republication of brand listings or editorial content is not permitted.
No warranty
The Index Beauty is provided as is. The Index Beauty makes no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the site or its content. Use of the site is at your own discretion.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Index Beauty is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the site, including damages from reliance on listed brand information.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged in editorial communications.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Disputes will be resolved in good faith between the parties before any other action is taken.
