This policy describes how The Index Beauty handles personal information.
What we collect
The Index Beauty collects three categories of information:
Email addresses. When you subscribe to editorial updates through any signup form on the site, your email address is collected.
Brand submissions. When you submit a brand through the submission form, the information you provide is collected. This typically includes a brand name, website, contact email, location, and a description.
Standard server logs. Like most websites, The Index Beauty's hosting environment records standard request information (IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp) for operational and security purposes. These logs are retained briefly and are not linked to identified individuals.
The Index Beauty does not currently use analytics services, advertising trackers, or third-party marketing pixels.
What we do with it
Email addresses are used to send editorial content. They are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Brand submissions are reviewed for editorial fit and accuracy. If a submitted brand is published, public details (name, location, categories, links) appear on the brand's listing page. The contact email provided in a submission is not displayed publicly. It may be used by The Index Beauty to follow up with the founder about the listing.
Server logs are used for security monitoring and debugging. They are not used to build user profiles.
What we do not do
The Index Beauty does not sell personal information.
The Index Beauty does not share personal information with advertisers.
The Index Beauty does not run profile-based advertising or behavioral retargeting on this site.
The Index Beauty does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13.
Cookies
The Index Beauty uses minimal cookies necessary for the site to function (for example, an admin session cookie used only by site editors, and Next.js framework cookies). The site does not set advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How we store information
Email addresses and brand submissions are stored in a database used solely for The Index Beauty. The database is hosted on a standard managed database service. Industry-standard encryption is applied in transit and at rest.
Your choices
Email subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Brand founders can request removal of their listing at any time by writing to hello@theindexbeauty.com or by using the opt-out link included in editorial outreach emails. Once removed, associated contact data is also deleted.
Anyone can ask what personal information The Index Beauty holds about them, request a copy, or request deletion. Send these requests to hello@theindexbeauty.com. Standard turnaround is seven days.
California, Virginia, and similar privacy laws
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others as enacted) have the right to access, correct, delete, and limit use of their personal information. The choices described in the section above cover these rights. Send requests to hello@theindexbeauty.com.
The Index Beauty does not sell personal information and does not engage in targeted advertising, so the right to opt out of those activities is met by default.
EU and UK visitors
If you visit The Index Beauty from the European Union or United Kingdom, the same rights apply: access, correction, deletion, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Send requests to hello@theindexbeauty.com.
The legal basis for processing email addresses is your consent, given at signup. The legal basis for processing brand submission information is your submission as a request for editorial consideration.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Subscribers will be notified of material changes by email.
